Videos of Nature in Hawaii
Welcome to our collection of videos of nature in Hawaii. The unrelenting “improvement” of every square inch of land that the developers can get their hands on speaks sadly to the degradation of Hawai’i’s magical environment. Once upon a time, the kapu system existed as the Hawaiian way of regulating the social order. Sacred societies like ancient Hawai’i emphasized regulating man’s relationship with the gods and his environment. In Western society, the emphasis is on individual and property rights… rights that didn’t exist in ancient Hawai’i. Is there a lesson for us in the ancient Hawaiian’s custodial and communal concept of property?

Hahai no ka ua i ka ulula`au. – The rain follows after the forest. (Destroy the forest, the rains will cease to fall, and the land will become a desert.)
